A municipal marina, and what that means for hiring your own mechanic
Town-owned marinas run on written rules rather than a dockmaster's judgment call, which is generally easier for a slip holder bringing in an outside contractor — but the rules are the town's and they apply to us.AquaRepair is not an approved vendor at Lake Park Harbor Marina and is not on any town contractor list. We hold no gate or dock access. You arrange access; we carry the contractor insurance marinas ask for and will email a certificate of insurance to the marina office on request.
Slip boats and ramp boats, and why we do both
Lake Park is one of the places in the county where the trailer fleet and the slip fleet share a parking lot. That matters because most mobile marine mechanics will not touch a trailer, and a trailer is what strands a boat far more often than an engine does. AquaRepair services boat trailers — bearings, brakes, lights, wiring, couplers — in the same visit as the engine. If your boat is on a trailer in the lot or in your driveway a mile away, that is a normal job, not an exception.
For slip-kept boats, everything is done in the water at the slip with containment for oil and gear lube.
The north end of the lagoon is shallow, and lower units pay for it
Boats out of Lake Park run the north end of the Lake Worth Lagoon — a broad, shallow, flats-edged basin with a marked channel and a lot of water on either side of it that looks deeper than it is.
Running south to Lake Worth Inlet adds a long slow-speed transit, which is the other half of the pattern: idle hours that flatten batteries and carbon up combustion chambers.
Questions Lake Park slip holders ask
Do you really work on trailers? Yes — bearings, brakes, lights, wiring and couplers. Most mobile marine mechanics do not, which is why a boat with a good engine sits for three weeks waiting on a hub. If the trailer and the engine both need attention, we do both on one visit. See boat trailer repair.
Are you an approved contractor with the town marina? No. AquaRepair is not on an approved or preferred vendor list at Lake Park Harbor Marina or at any other facility. You register the visit or arrange access with the harbormaster's office; we send a certificate of insurance to the marina office on request.
