What a 52-slip wet basin means for the work
Fifty-two wet slips is small, and small is easy to work. The truck parks close, gear comes down in one cart trip, and nobody is staging a water pump job at the end of a quarter-mile pier. Tell us at booking whether the slip is bow-in, stern-in or a side-tie, and how the dock is reached.
Boats in wet slips have their gearcases in the water, which sets the rules for cooling and lower unit work. Impellers, pump housings, seals and gear oil get done with the engine trimmed up, the technician working over the transom from the finger pier — slower on a tight side-tie. The truck carries its own power, so a charging-system test never waits on a pedestal.
Gate access, the dockmaster, and the certificate of insurance
AquaRepair Marine is an independent mobile mechanic and is not on an approved-vendor list at HAVN Yacht Club or at any other facility. No page here will say otherwise.
The slip holder arranges the gate pass, or notifies the dockmaster that a contractor is scheduled — normally one call or email to the office the day before. AquaRepair handles the paperwork: we carry the liability coverage marinas require and send a certificate of insurance directly to the office on request. Contractor rules vary widely across Palm Beach County — advance registration at some facilities, an annual COI at others, nothing at the rest.
What the water does to these engines
The Intracoastal is the other half. Long idle-speed and manatee-zone stretches mean a county boat can burn half an hour at 900 RPM before it reaches open water, and outboards that live at idle carbon up, undercharge their batteries and foul plugs. BoatUS puts 54% of on-water assistance calls on mechanical breakdown and 9% on dead batteries — most of it work a mobile technician resolves in the slip.
